This non-credit certificate program covers skills for guiding clients to better well-being through improved nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle habits. Graduates are eligible to apply for the National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) certification exam from the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching.

Fitness and Exercise Instructors
Fitness and exercise instructors plan and lead group or individual exercise sessions. They will assess group skill levels and develop programs that develop client’s cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, and flexibility over time. Fitness and exercise instructors may work in gyms, health clubs, long-term care facilities, or in the hospitality sector. The U.S. BLS projects 73,700 job openings for this occupation each year from 2023–2033.[3] The median annual salary for fitness and exercise instructors was $46,480 in May 2023.[4]
Exercise Physiologists
Exercise physiologists can work in direct patient care or applied research. Those in patient care work to improve the health of people with chronic illnesses through tailored exercise plans developed in consultation with a physician. Those in research work to understand how the human body reacts to exercise in collaboration with scientists and research teams. The U.S. BLS projects 1,600 job openings for this occupation each year from 2023–2033.[5] The median annual salary for exercise physiologists was $54,860 in May 2023.[6]
Coaches and Scouts
Scouts identify potential athlete recruits for teams by attending games and practices, viewing footage, interviewing players, and creating profiles for their team management. Coaches teach athletes the skills they need to know to perform in their sport and direct teams during games. The U.S. BLS projects 41,800 job openings for this occupation each year from 2023–2033.[7] The median annual salary for coaches and scouts was $45,910 in May 2023.[8]
