This program can equip you for roles in strength and conditioning, athletic coaching, corporate fitness, personal training, and more. Graduates may also qualify for admission to doctoral-level programs in health and wellness-related fields, including medical programs, chiropractic programs, kinesiology, exercise science, and more.

As a graduate of this program, you’ll understand:

  • Form knowledge in exercise sciences, such as anatomy, physiology, movement science, biomechanics, exercise testing, sports science, and nutrition.
  • Review scientific methods in health and performance to enhance the fitness role for better results.
  • Explain health applications for practical use, focusing on ethical practices and standards to solve problems.
  • Assess various performance technologies for effective coaching to improve client outcomes and health promotion.
  • Combine evidence-based practices and cultural approaches to boost health.

The program includes opportunities to evaluate and conduct research and complete a capstone project. You can choose from specializations in Strength and Conditioning or Sport Coaching Education.

 

Pursue additional certification with your specialization choice

Two of our specialization options are designed to meet educational requirements that can prepare you for industry certification exams offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

Strength and Conditioning: Aligned with the standards for the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential, this specialization focuses on strength, conditioning, and performance for athletes.

Sport Coaching Education – This specialization emphasizes the psychology of coaching and performance analysis, equipping students with the skills to effectively lead athletes while addressing ethical considerations and contemporary issues in the coaching profession.

What will I learn in Salem’s online Health & Human Performance Program?

The MSHHP consists of 36 credits of coursework. This includes 21 core credits plus 15 in your chosen specialization.
